What You Need to Know About Electricity: Information on Voltage, Current and Resistance

The concept of electricity started on November 17, 1777 and it is now alive and kicking. We’ve been looking into the origins of electricity from a variety of sources like its use in water devices, glass wax applicators, capacitors, electrical hoses, electrical circuit termination, grid power stations and much more.

Let’s look at some historical information about electricity, what it is, how we get power and other basic information.

The History of Electricity

The electrical system we are currently using was first reported in 1718 by the gentleman Horace Greeley. He began his life as a printer, but he was called to manufacturing with his father. He started the International Press Association by correspondence and it also required him to become the owner of the printing presses. This self employed took him to a round table to where he encountered different rooms and many years of experience in the power business.

He became interested in the power business by falling in love with an English lady, Louise, who was a delivery girl with the Royal Academy. She introduced him to Charles Copeland who was cutting leads and gears in a workshop on the King’s Street. It was said by Charles that he had a brilliant design for a a light bulb, so he got a factory book and he fell in love with Louise. After the purchase of the power plant which Charles managed to get James Day to make something work. It became known as Copeland Lighting. His design attracted so much attention that many firms recognized this as their main source of electricity and followed suit. In only a few years the company got overwhelmed.

Robert Walker came to look at this and he was in love with a girl, Janet. So he stumped up money for the company and a test had to be carried out in Colorado, Ohio. The plant finally went on line and in just a few years this became a great success for the company and the customers that it brought. The first one electric car to go into production was it was produced in the site in 1910 and finally the first electric wheelchair was built in 1927. By 1949 it had 5,000 electric vehicles on the road. The manufacture of electricity in the US began with the General Electric’s Antelope plant of 1903 where the development started. This plant has yet to find it’s place in history and sadly have not changed a thing since the early 1930s.

Some Factors Contributing to the Rise of Electric Cars

The first electric car was exhibited on November 16, 1901. It was seen by General Electric where the sample was three of the 34 running motors. Edison Automotive Company was initially called General Electric Motors, but it was finally re-named Edison Automotive Company in 1918.

Electric cars can have two draws, running a generator and storing energy. The current generator for a car is heated, just like what we use in our houses to warm a hot water tank. The batteries are taken in turns and are charged through a direct current (DC) channel. They give the car enough power to drive for one hour when the driver pushes the brake pedal. Other differences can be seen as the motors are faster and bigger compared to gasoline driven cars which have many moving parts.

Electric cars like the Tesla can also be charged when moving at a snail’s pace if charged by ordinary household electricity. When the vehicle is plugged in to a normal power outlet then the power will come through it. If the vehicle is transported at high speeds using a large battery pack then the charge comes from a larger truck. This is why the Tesla’s fast charging charge takes 15 minutes and the range on the regular charge is better than a normal car.

The Age of Electric Cars is a Age of Geeks.

Among the cars under the Tesla brand is its electric vehicle called the Tesla. The former CEO, Elon Musk, and the current CEO, Chris Gethard, have loved to build things together. He has been an inventor who was interested in the science of everything and can get his hands into every corner of it. Musk is also a great entrepreneur. There are models of electric cars coming out that are a joint venture between Tesla and South Korean maker Samsung company. This joint project has to pass through many regulations before the result can be seen.

Teachers and Scientists are Teaching About a New Age of Technology

Instead of technology playing a role in tech, science and environment, teachers and scientists are replacing the traditional way of teaching our children about technology. As of today, we have grown a generation of tech gods. There is no job that you can hire for £15,000 that isn’t taking up your time to solve some issue. Many children have become tech gods themselves
